PROCEDURE SUMMARY
Groups of 5 Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats weighing 150 ± 20 grams (g) are used. Test substance and vehicle are administered by intravenous (IV) injection 15 minutes before sacrifice of the animals and blood is collected from the inferior vena cava. Blood samples are mixed with anticoagulant (0.13M sodium citrate: blood, 1:9) and centrifuged at 1500 g 4oC for 15 minutes to obtain platelet reduced plasma samples. Prothrombin time (PT), thrombin time (TT) and activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), all measured in seconds, are determined using a semiautomatic coagulation analyzer (CA-50, Sysmex, Japan). Suggested Testing: n=5/group.
CRITERIA FOR SIGNIFICANCE
Changes in clotting time parameters. One-way ANOVA followed by Dunnett's test is applied for comparison between vehicle control and treated groups.

We will readily accommodate client-specified alterations. These studies are performed at our AAALAC accredited BSL-2 laboratory in Taipei, Taiwan. All aspects of this work are performed in general accordance with the Guide for the Care and Use of laboratory animals (National Academy Press, Washington, DC, 2011). The study protocol was approved by the Pharmacology Discovery Services IACUC and is performed with the oversight of veterinarians to assure the humane treatment of laboratory animals.
